💨 Abstract
In the Netherlands, New Year's Eve was marked by chaos: two people died from fireworks, and police faced unprecedented violence. A 17-year-old and a 38-year-old were killed in separate incidents, with three others seriously injured. Police reported extensive violence, including petrol bombs in Breda. A historic church in Amsterdam was severely damaged by fire. The Dutch had purchased record amounts of fireworks, leading to widespread misuse and injuries.
