💨 Abstract
A woman was bitten by a piranha in Lagoa Nova, Brazil, marking the tenth such attack in recent weeks. Raiane Leite Loiola was swimming when she felt the bite and was quickly assisted by lifeguards. Biologists confirmed the presence of piranhas and suggested an ecological imbalance might be causing increased aggression. Officials warned the public to avoid unsignposted areas and respect safety warnings. The lagoon will remain partially closed for safety.
