Alderney Airport, the first and only airport in the Channel Islands until the 1930s, may face an extended closure starting April 2027 for runway improvements. The project aims to widen the runway and update lighting systems to enhance safety and accessibility. The closure, if approved, will last eight months, potentially disrupting the island's connectivity.
