💨 Abstract

A coroner warned about doulas impeding midwives' work after a baby, Matilda Pomfret-Thomas, died at 15 days old due to brain damage from lack of oxygen. The doula, hired for a home birth, negatively impacted midwives' ability to provide care. Despite signs of distress, the mother wasn't taken to the hospital promptly. The coroner highlighted concerns about doula regulation and training.
