💨 Abstract
Mark Hehir, a bus driver, was fired for stopping a thief who snatched a necklace from a passenger. Hehir chased the thief, returned the necklace, and restrained the thief until police arrived. Despite public support and a police report backing his actions, a tribunal upheld his dismissal, citing excessive force. Hehir, who volunteered in Ukraine during the war, was praised by the public and a Shadow Justice Minister for his actions.
