💨 Abstract
The Nipah virus, which is rare and brain-damaging, has seen a rise in confirmed cases in India, prompting health checks in neighboring countries. Spread through contact with infected fruit bats or contaminated food, it can cause severe symptoms and has a high fatality rate. While outbreaks occur annually in South and Southeast Asia, the virus does not transmit easily from person to person. Recent cases in India are being managed, and there is no evidence of increased human-to-human transmission.
