McDonald’s UK celebrated 50 years in 2024, with its first UK restaurant opening in Woolwich in 1974. The global chain has over 44,000 outlets. Meanwhile, Greggs, founded in 1939 by John Gregg, started as a delivery service for baking ingredients. The first Greggs Bakery opened in 1951.
