💨 Abstract
E-bike battery fires in the UK have surged, with 432 incidents recorded last year, up from 313 the previous year. London Fire Brigade reported the most fires, with 171 linked to e-bikes and 35 to e-scooters. Fatalities have occurred, including Sofia Duarte, who died in a fire caused by charging e-bikes. Experts blame low-quality batteries and chargers sold online, often with lax safety standards.
