💨 Abstract
Mycoplasma genitalium (MG), a lesser-known sexually transmitted infection, affects about 500,000 people in the UK, yet only 15% of Brits are aware of it. Discovered in 1981, MG often shows no symptoms and is resistant to antibiotics, making it difficult to treat. It can cause complications like epididymitis in men and pelvic inflammatory disease in women if left untreated.
