In September 2021, India's merchandise exports increased by 0.5% to $34.58 billion, while the trade deficit narrowed to a five-month low at $20.78 billion. Imports increased by 1.6% to $55.36 billion. The export growth was driven by engineering, chemicals, plastics, pharma, ready-made garments, and electronics.
