💨 Abstract

In April 2025, India's retail inflation dropped to a near six-year low of 3.16%, primarily due to lower prices of vegetables, fruits, pulses, and other protein-rich items. This decrease, the lowest since October 2021, was driven by significant reductions in the prices of potatoes, tomatoes, chicken, and other staples. Food inflation specifically plummeted by 91 basis points from March.
