💨 Abstract
The Allahabad High Court has ordered a halt to the demolition of about 189 houses in Varanasi's Dalmandi area, pending a road-widening project. The court issued a status quo order after residents, led by Shahnawaz Khan, petitioned against the imminent threat of demolitions without proper acquisition or compensation. The next hearing is set for May 20.
