💨 Abstract
Counter-terrorism expert Tapan Kumar Deka, 62, has been granted a one-year extension as the chief of India's Intelligence Bureau (IB) until June 2026. This is his second extension, amid heightened security concerns following recent cross-border strikes. Deka, an IPS officer from Himachal Pradesh, has extensive experience in handling terrorism and radicalization, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast.
