💨 Abstract
Former BJP leader and ex-Union minister John Barla joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on May 15, citing restrictions on his work for tribal development within the BJP. Barla, who was denied a ticket for the 2024 elections, expressed hope that under Mamata Banerjee's leadership, he could better serve tribal interests. He had been distanced from the BJP after being replaced as the candidate for Alipurduars.
