💨 Abstract
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema urged the Central Government to regulate the use of methanol, following the death of 23 people in Amritsar due to spurious liquor laced with the toxic chemical. Cheema highlighted the regulatory gaps that allow methanol to be misused in illicit liquor production, emphasizing the need for stricter regulations under the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951.
