💨 Abstract

Despite repeated pleas by the administration, hundreds of goats and hens were sacrificed during the annual 'Chhatar Jatra' in Odisha's Bhawanipatna. The practice, deeply rooted in religious sentiments, persists due to its longstanding tradition and is part of the local Kandha tribes' culture. The event, which attracts over three lakh people, blends tribal, royal, and non-tribal cultures.
