💨 Abstract
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has amended rules to allow foreign lawyers and law firms to practice in India, with a focus on increasing international commercial arbitration cases within the country. Previously, such cases were often handled abroad, benefiting foreign lawyers rather than Indian ones. The new rules permit foreign lawyers to engage in non-litigious areas involving foreign law, international law, and arbitration, but they must consult Indian advocates for Indian law advice.
