💨 Abstract
Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai was sworn in as the 52nd Chief Justice of India. He is the first Buddhist and second Dalit to hold this position. Justice Gavai, succeeding CJI Sanjiv Khanna, has declined post-retirement assignments or political roles. Born in Maharashtra, he practiced law in Bombay and Nagpur, becoming a High Court judge in 2005 and a Supreme Court judge in 2019.
