The Punjab government intends to extend the detention of radical preacher Amritpal Singh, an MP and leader of 'Waris Punjab De', under the National Security Act for another year. Singh was arrested in April 2023 in connection with the Ajnala police station attack. His nine associates, arrested with him, have been brought back to Punjab and released from detention.
