💨 Abstract

The Supreme Court of India has upheld the Calcutta High Court's ruling that privacy rights extend to shared homes, prohibiting unauthorized CCTV surveillance in private areas. The dispute arose at Mullick Bhaban in Kolkata, where family members installed cameras directed at spaces exclusively occupied by Shuvendra Mullick without his consent. The High Court, citing the right to privacy under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, ruled that such surveillance is unconstitutional.
