💨 Abstract

In 1898, British estate manager William C. Peppé uncovered a Buddhist Stupa at Piprahwa, revealing a sacred casket with relics of Gautama Buddha and precious gems. Over a century later, controversy erupted when Peppé's heir, Chris, planned to auction 344 of these gems at Sotheby’s for approximately 9.7 million pounds.
