💨 Abstract
Sri Lanka will hold two major island-wide elections, a parliamentary election on November 14 and local council elections in December, following the presidential election in September. The Supreme Court has ordered that local council elections should have been held in March and not withholding them was a violation of fundamental rights. The then president and finance minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was found guilty of rights violation for not allocating necessary funds for the election.
