💨 Abstract

In northwestern Bangladesh, a 25-year-old Hindu man, Mithun Sarkar, died after jumping into a canal to escape a mob accusing him of theft. The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council reported increased communal violence, with 51 incidents in December 2025, including murders, thefts, and attacks on properties. The council expressed concern about the safety of minority voters ahead of the general elections.
