💨 Abstract

Scientists, using data from China's Zhurong rover and other spacecraft, have discovered evidence of an ancient ocean on Mars, approximately 3.68 billion years ago. Geological features such as troughs, sediment channels, and mud volcano formations suggest a coastline, with both shallow and deeper marine environments. The ocean disappeared around 3.42 billion years ago, leaving behind heavily silted deposits.
