đź’¨ Abstract
Crimean Tatars in Ukraine are preserving their language and culture, particularly by educating children who may never have visited Crimea. These Muslim Tatars, who face a history of persecution and displacement, view Crimea as their ancestral homeland. Russia's 2014 annexation forced many to flee to Ukraine. Current peace talks involving Crimea have been contentious, with Ukraine rejecting any recognition of Russian control.
