💨 Abstract

United Nations peacekeepers, known as the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), were deployed in 1978 to patrol the southern border of Lebanon and Israel. The mandate for this operation, which includes maintaining the Blue Line as a buffer zone, is renewed annually by the U.N. Security Council.
