On October 7, 2023, Hamas-led militants attacked Israeli towns and kibbutz villages, resulting in 1,200 deaths and 250 hostages. Israel's subsequent offensive in Gaza has led to the killing of at least 42,000 Palestinians, displacing nearly all of Gaza's 2.3 million residents and causing a humanitarian crisis.
