Japanese authorities plan to replace the proposed light-rail system for Mount Fuji with a trackless, rubber-tyred tram system made by China's CRRC. The new system, powered by locally produced hydrogen, is expected to reduce costs by 40% and address environmental concerns. The tram would use the existing toll road and prohibit private vehicles and sightseeing buses.
