💨 Abstract
The Philippines and the U.S. conducted joint maritime exercises in the South China Sea for the first time. The “maritime cooperative activity” involved the Philippine Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, along with the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Stratton and a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft. These exercises, including communication drills and search-and-rescue scenarios, were held off Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.
