Senior Indian Foreign Service officer Srinivas Gotru has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to ASEAN, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Gotru is currently Joint Secretary in the MEA and is expected to take up the assignment soon. ASEAN-India relations have significantly improved since the establishment of a sectoral dialogue partnership in 1992, reaching a strategic partnership in 2012.
