💨 Abstract

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck off Taiwan's northeastern coast near Yilan on Saturday. The quake, felt across northern Taiwan, had a depth of 73 km and caused minor shaking in Taipei. No major damage was reported, but over 3,000 homes in Yilan briefly lost power. Taiwan, located near the junction of two tectonic plates, is prone to earthquakes.
