💨 Abstract
Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon signed a new law eliminating criminal penalties for "liking" social media posts that advocate terrorism or other serious crimes. Previously, over 1,500 individuals were imprisoned for such actions under a 2018 law. Tajikistan, bordering Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China, has faced recent militant attacks. Rakhmon had previously criticized these prosecutions, advocating for their cessation.
