The apparel industry contributes 10% of global carbon emissions, with only 1% of production recycled. European Union consumed an average of 14.8 kg of textiles per person in 2020, with 40% ending up as waste, causing environmental harm. Recycling is commercially unviable without government support and 60-70% of clothing is made from plastic-based materials.
