💨 Abstract
Since its invasion of Ukraine three years ago, Russia has launched over 51,000 guided aerial bombs, which are hard to intercept and highly destructive. These bombs, often Soviet-era ordnance fitted with navigation technology, are cheaper and more abundant than missiles, and have caused significant damage to Ukrainian defensive positions. In 2024 alone, Russia used approximately 40,000 of these bombs.
