On Sunday, Israeli tanks entered a United Nations base in southern Lebanon, according to the UNIFIL peacekeeping force. The Israeli military claimed it was under heavy fire and backing into the UN base during an attack by Hezbollah militants. The incident led to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling for the peacekeepers to withdraw, accusing them of providing "human shields" for Hezbollah. The UN and Hezbollah disputed this claim.
