💨 Abstract
In August 2025, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will distribute older person grants to four million beneficiaries. Payments start on August 5, with additional dates for those needing to verify their income and identity. Previously, grant reviews were announced in advance, but recent changes mean grants may be withheld until verification is complete, causing backlogs at SASSA offices.
