💨 Abstract

Former Olympic swimmer Tatjana Smith (formerly Schoenmaker) marked the first anniversary of her retirement from competitive swimming. She won gold in the 100m and silver in the 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Reflecting on her career, Smith expressed gratitude for the discipline, resilience, and purpose swimming gave her. She dedicated her final race to her family and competitors, emphasizing that she swam out of love, not for fame or pressure.
