Less than two years on, the authenticity of his reported death remains a topic of speculation, with suggestions he faked it to evade arrest. Police deny rumors Jooste faked his death, stating they conducted a thorough investigation, ballistic tests, and noted autopsy results—though no inquest date has been set.
