💨 Abstract
Since the end of apartheid in 1994, South Africa has renamed many towns, cities, streets, and landmarks to reflect its new identity. The goal has been to reclaim indigenous names and recognize anti-apartheid leaders, moving away from symbols of colonial rulers or apartheid figures. This transformation is part of a broader effort to honor the country’s heritage and promote national unity.
