💨 Abstract
Scientists have discovered why mosquitoes prefer biting certain people over others, attributing it to unique body scents. A study from the University of California San Diego revealed that mosquitoes use specialized sensory hairs on their antennae to detect human scent, body heat, and carbon dioxide (CO₂) from breath. These cues help them target individuals with high accuracy. While CO₂ is a key attractant, personal body chemistry also plays a role, making some people more appealing to mosquitoes.
