đź’¨ Abstract
South African Transport Minister Barbara Creecy is considering extending the validity period of driving licenses to eight years for most motorists, aiming to reduce congestion at licensing centers. However, the change could impact the funding of the Driving Licence Card Account (DLCA), which relies on renewal fees. The proposal, initially suggested in a study before Creecy's appointment, is still under review, with the minister awaiting a financial impact analysis before making a decision.
