💨 Abstract
In 2025, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) will introduce changes to its auto-assessment process, inviting provisional taxpayers to participate for the first time. This streamlined tool pre-populates tax returns using data from employers, banks, and other providers, allowing eligible taxpayers to skip manual filing. While this speeds up the process and can result in quick refunds, it may lead to smaller refunds for those with complex tax affairs.
