đź’¨ Abstract
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) celebrated the government's decision to withdraw proposed regulations that aimed to allow universities to blacklist students with unpaid fees. Following significant opposition from students, civil society, and public comments, Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau retracted the draft rules published in August 2025. Critics of the regulations argued that they would exacerbate the student debt crisis, punishing young individuals and limiting their opportunities.
