💨 Abstract

Eskom has installed over 444,000 smart meters across South Africa to improve electricity management and reduce grid pressure. The initiative aims to tackle illegal connections, theft, and overloaded infrastructure, with a focus on high-loss areas like Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. Smart meters help customers monitor usage and improve billing accuracy, supporting Eskom's goal to eliminate load reduction by 2027.
