The Department of Agriculture confirmed a new foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak on a commercial farm in Moqhaka, Free State, on July 8, 2025. The affected property was quarantined, and by July 10, lab results confirmed the outbreak. Control measures, including surveillance, vaccination, and containment protocols, were immediately deployed. Investigators are tracing the infection source, and nearby farms are being monitored.
