💨 Abstract
The South African government has initiated a nationwide poultry vaccination campaign targeting avian influenza and intensified efforts against ongoing foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreaks. The program aims to protect poultry farms and enhance biosecurity nationwide. Avian influenza vaccines are being distributed to high-risk poultry farms, with technical support from the University of Pretoria and the Agricultural Research Council. Simultaneously, the government has ordered 900,000 doses of FMD vaccines, with deliveries expected soon.
