A retired primary schoolteacher, Karin van Aardt, was fatally stabbed in a smash-and-grab robbery at Cape Town International Airport. The incident occurred shortly after her arrival, as she and her husband were traveling to celebrate their grandchild's birthday. The attacker, who attempted to steal her handbag, fled the scene and remains at large. The murder has sparked outrage and calls for improved security measures around the airport.
