đź’¨ Abstract
The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that bookmakers cannot offer fixed-odds bets on casino games like roulette, clarifying that such games cannot be disguised as betting events. The National Gambling Board (NGB) welcomed the decision, stating it upholds the separation of gambling modes under South African law. The ruling, based on Gauteng legislation, has nationwide implications, requiring betting operators to cease offering casino-style games.
