💨 Abstract
South Africa has temporarily banned imports of live poultry, eggs, and fresh poultry meat from Brazil due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Brazil. This suspension, aimed at protecting the domestic poultry industry and public health, was announced after Brazil reported the outbreak among breeding chickens. The government will review the restrictions based on new data from Brazilian authorities. Certain poultry consignments are exempt from the ban.
