💨 Abstract

The Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI) 2025 ranks South Africa as one of the world's worst governments, placing it 77th out of 120 countries with a score of 0.461. The index highlights significant governance issues, particularly in areas crucial to citizens: jobs, safety, education, and equality. While South Africa has strengths in judicial quality and international recognition, it struggles with economic stagnation and core governance failures.
